Leadership

Leaders Club
Leaders Club is a program designed to provided teens
with the opportunity to engage in building uniqueness in their
character. The program meets weekly during the school calendar
year and bi-weekly in the summer. Goals are to learn/grow
personally and garner skills in team building, effective
communication, daily living and preparation for jobs. Teens
actively participate in fundraising activities and social
outings. They are offered the opportunity to experience both
leader's school and rallies. Contact Demond Meeks at

Youth and Government Program
This program is designed to exemplify the parliamentary
procedure. Teens participate in model legislature on both
District and State levels. The program hosts weekly club
meetings held at local high schools and Teen City. Participants
meet conjointly on four occasions: Issues/Debate Conference,
Branches of Government Training, Bill Sharing, and this
culminates in a model performance during the District
Conference at Rochester's City Hall. The Youth and
Government State Legislature conference is conducted at the
Capitol Buildings in Albany, New York, each year during the

Teen Strength Training (Ages
12-18)
Specialized training by certified staff. Designed to introduce
basic strength training and exercise principles. Participants
will work closely with staff to build a fitness routine. Basic
anatomy and weight room etiquette is included.

Teen Night Out located at the
Southwest Family YMCA (Ages 12-18)
A special Saturday evening filled with games, refreshments,
music, cards, etc. Pizza and pop are available for 50 cents. No
one is admitted after 7:30pm and program end at 10:00pm. Free
to YMCA members.
Teen City
Located above the Southwest Family YMCA's Youth Enrichment
Center, this state-of-the-art teen center is a comprehensive
resource for teens featuring social activities, support
services and personal development programs. Teen City's
mission is to foster growth in our teens by offering structured
programming, providing a safe place to socialize and building
character development through leadership.
Teen City has board games, a pool table, foos-ball, ping-pong,
air hockey, music, and computer lab.

Support
|
Teens on Track
Teens Track is a counseling support group that
integrates adventure based games designed to build trust, open
communication and develop team building skill. This innovative
approach facilitates productive discussion about everyday
concerns. Teens on Track is facilitated by social workers-a
collaborative effort between the YMCA and Catholic Family
Center. The support group runs 10-12 consecutive weeks during
the calendar year, and through a grant with the City of
Rochester Department of Human Services, it is now available at
all Y branches throughout the city. Call the Monroe Branch at
271-5320 for details about referral process and schedules. Free
to the community.
Computer Tutorial and Homework/Reading area
Teen City will provide computer assistance and education using
state-of-the-art technology. Teens will have the opportunity to
practice computer skills, complete homework assignments and
conduct research projects. Staff/volunteers are available for
assistance.
